Social solidarity in practice

There are several ways for your company to make a positive contribution to the wellbeing of the socially underprivileged: through financial donations or the provision of products, services, or manpower.

Check out the video testimonials of the Solidaritest® Toppers 2009:

Be inspired by several companies which took part in Solidaritest® 2009.

For each of these companies we present one initiative in aid of the socially underprivileged:

Care:
The employees of Care are invited to become ‘plan parents’. The total amount collected will be doubled by Care. In this way, Care supports 6 foster children from Mali, Bangladesh, Egypt, El Salvador and Sri Lanka.

Inter Partner Assistance:
Inter Partner Assistance organised a blood donor session in their offices on the 14th February 2008.

Intérimaires Plus:
Once a month, a group of staff members of Intérimaires Plus from all regions and all functions holds a one-day meeting during working hours with the purpose of developing initiatives to make the mission and vision more tangible. In 2008, the pioneering group founded the Plus Solidarity Fund for the sponsorship of social projects.

KBC:
In 2008, KBC donated a substantial amount to an Ethiopian micro-credit organisation that uses the money to grant loans to farmers affected by the drought. These loans enable farmers to invest in wells and agricultural training.

Reynaers Aluminium:
On the 22nd May 2008, 100 Reynaers Aluminium employees spent a whole day devoting their working hours to the socially underprivileged, while their work for that day was handled by other colleagues.

SD Worx:
SD Worx founded the SD Worx Fund with the purpose of providing financial support to practical projects of professional organisations that, directly or indirectly, prepare underprivileged youngsters for employment in the labour market, offering them a chance to fully participate in economic life. This fund supported 14 projects in 2008.

Torfs:
Torfs collects old shoes, sells them and donates all the profit to a project for orphans in a South African village.
